Indoor Cricket Rules
THE TEAM
Each team consists of 8 players.
Game fees are to be paid BEFORE the team takes the court.
If a team is not ready to toss 3 minutes before the scheduled start
time, they MUST bat first
* You must play with at least 6 players.
THE GAME
The game consists of 2 innings. 1 innings is 16, 6ball overs.
There are 4 partnerships. Each player bats in a partnership consisting
of 4 overs.
Runs are scored by the batsmen hitting the nets and running between
the wickets - NO runs are awarded if the batters do not run.
Each player must bowl 2 overs, they cannot be consecutive.
Where a team is short of players, the opposition choose the batsmen
and bowlers to play again in the last partnership.
4 players must field in each half. If a team is short, you must have 4
players in the front half.
Batsmen must wear at least 1 batting glove when batting.
Fielders [excluding the wicket keeper] are not permitted to wear any
form of glove.
A team may replace an injured player but the replacement cannot bowl,
bat or wicket keep.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Teams will be graded according to ability.
At the commencement of competition a draw will be issued to all teams.
Each competition consists of no less than 4 rounds.
Due to the large number of teams playing during the week catch up
games will be played on Sundays.
Entering competition means abiding by the centre policy.
Your draw will indicate which of your games fall on a different day.
COMPETITION POINTS
4 points shall be awarded for a win.
2 points shall be awarded for a draw.
A team that loses within 25 runs shall gain 1 additional point.
4 points shall be awarded for a default win if the game is played.
-4 shall be deducted for a default loss.
2 points if full game fees for 8 players is paid on the night.
Points are updated weekly and kept in the points folder in the arena.
Discrepencies must be queried at the counter or by phoning the manager
the following day.
SCORING
All scoring is done by running between the wickets and/or striking the
nets. Hitting and standing scores 0.
0 runs = Hitting the net behind the wicket keeper.
1 run = Hitting side nets from the corner behind the wicket keeper to
the middle
line.
2 runs = Hitting side nets from the middle line to the corner of the
back net.
3 runs = Hitting the side nets and then the back net.
4 runs = A bounced ball hitting the back net only.
6 runs = Directly hitting the back net on the full.
1 additional run is added to these scores by batters running between
the wickets.
WIDE = 2 runs
NO BALL = 2 plus whatever is scored, if run.
DISMISSALS
The fielding team must appeal to gain dismissals except in bowling a
batsman.
Each dismissal results in 5 runs deducted from the batting teams
score.
Catches can be taken from any combination of nets except when the back
net is hit directly on the
full.
MANKAD
Mankads need no longer be in the same action as the bowlers delivery.
However the ball must still be held. Unsuccessful Mankads result in a no
ball.
EXCLUSION ZONE
· Players may not field closer than 2 Metres to the facing batsman in
his recognised batting position.
GAME TIMES
The earliest start for a game is 5:30pm, the latest is 9:00pm on week
nights.
Your team should be ready to take the court 10 minutes prior to the
scheduled start time.
Junior grades earliest start time is 4:00pm.
CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITIES
To have the required number of players present and ready to play.
To collect game fees and pay them before the game begins.
To read this information pack and inform their team of its contents.
To be aware of future game times and inform all of their team of
these.
SEMI FINALS & FINALS
Players must have played 3 competition games to qualify for semi
finals and finals.
Players who are registered and qualified for more than one team in any
grade must choose to play for one at semi final time [team choice is up
to the player].
First vs Fourth - the winner goes through to the final.
Second vs Third - the winner goes through to the final.
CANCELLATIONS & POSTPONEMENTS
A minimum of 48 hours notice must be given of a game postponement.
Teams are liable to pay a default fee if 48 hours notice is not given.
Postponed games will be rescheduled for the following week.
All scheduled games must be played within a season. Management will
removed any team not following our centre policy.
MISCONDUCT
Misconduct is wide ranging and will not be tolerated.
A warning will be given by the umpire.
Runs will be deducted, in multiples of 5, at the umpires discretion.
If the warning is not heeded, the player in question will be sent off.
DISPUTES
Any disputes may be lodged with the night manager on the night.
